The Dutch railway startup GreenCityTrip also wants to start in Germany from May 25, 2022. Destinations such as Venice, Florence, Bologna, Milan, Copenhagen, Gothenburg and Vienna are offered. The train will have a capacity of 640 beds.
Travelers can use the new night trains from May 25, 2022 in the evenings in Cologne, Dortmund and Bad Bentheim. Currently, tickets can only be booked via the provider's website. Some destinations are only available in connection with hotel bookings. The lowest price for five-day trips including hotel is said to be 199 euros per person.
“With this step, we as a travel company are leaders when it comes to enabling customers to travel even more responsibly. We offer city breaks to fantastic European cities, including a hotel at the destination. With these offers, in addition to arrival and departure on the night train, a hotel stay at the destination is always offered. It is also possible to book only a night train ticket. An important advantage for German customers is that all our city break packages and ticket only offers are fully financially protected by the Dutch Association of Tour Operators for German customers. This service is included in the price as standard, as are fresh linens on each route. Our train is waiting at the destination, so it is guaranteed that our customers can travel back to Germany safely at any time,” explains Maarten Bastian, co-owner of GreenCityTrip.
For the time being, only isolated trips will be offered from Cologne Hbf to Vienna Hbf. For example, only one appointment can be booked in July and August 2022. No trips are currently planned for the months of September and October 2022. There will be individual dates again in October and December 2022. The cheapest ticket without an overnight stay costs 169 euros. If you want a private compartment in Economy Class, it costs a whopping 683 euros. The prices refer to a round trip.
