For the third time within a few weeks, there was a collision on the apron at Gdansk Airport on Tuesday. This time the Hungarian low-cost airline Wizz Air was "lucky" that a Saab 340 from Sprint Air stood in the way. A Partenavia P 68 Observer 2 crashed into it.
Wizz Air was twice the victim of apron vehicles that crashed into Airbus jets at the Polish airport. The first time it got jammed Service vehicle in the rear area and only a few weeks later it crashed a transporter in the area of the bow in an Airbus A320. The chances that another Wizz Air Jet in Gdansk will make an undesired acquaintance on the ground were not that bad.
Like photos taken by Polish portal trojmiasto.pl The SP-KPU, a Saab 340 from Sprint Air, saved the Hungarian low-cost airline from another through no fault ground incident in Gdansk. The Partenavia P 68 Observer 2 with the registration SP-FPM crashed into the turboprop aircraft and jammed between the left wing and the fuselage.
The cause of this collision is still unclear. Upon request, Gdansk Airport confirmed that the investigations are ongoing. There are no injuries, only property damage has occurred. However, it shouldn't be cheap on either aircraft. It remains to be hoped, however, that the almost “creepy” floor crash series in Gdansk will come to an end.
