On October 30, 2024, Neos Airlines resumed non-stop flights between Milan and Lagos after Alitalia stopped operating on this route several years ago.

The inaugural flight NO3396 took off from Milan Malpensa Airport on a Boeing 737 MAX 8 and landed at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos, where it was received by officials from both countries.

Festus Keyamo, Nigeria's Minister of Aviation, highlighted the positive economic effects of the new connection, including job creation and improved trade opportunities between Nigeria and Italy. The direct flights are not only intended to facilitate business and trade, but also to contribute to Nigeria's further integration into European markets and support Nigeria's gross domestic product.
