The Czech government is placing tough conditions on Smartwings in order to possibly get state aid after all. For example, CSA should get a new name.

The Czech government has promised state aid to Smartwings. However, only under certain conditions: On the one hand, the company is to be renamed CSA Czech Airlines, the former home carrier in the Czech Republic, in which the airline now holds a 97,7 percent stake. On the other hand, a long-term job guarantee is to be issued for the entire workforce.

Only after these requirements have been met will the airline be given a financial injection under the wings. Specifically, it is about a loan of the equivalent of 38,3 million US dollars, such as ch-aviation.com notifies. In addition, the rescue package also provides for financial support from the existing shareholders. These should flush an additional 67,7 million US dollars into the till.
