Pristina Airport wants to motivate airlines to start long-haul flights with the help of a new incentive program. The airport developed completely differently from the European trend during the Corona crisis, because you could even increase significantly.
A few years ago there was a long-haul connection to New York JFK. Not only do you want them back, but the management points out that many people with Kosovar roots also live in Australia and other countries. A lot of money is spent on expanding the infrastructure so that widebodies can use Pristina Airport optimally.
A new incentive program, which is initially limited to the period from 2022 to 2024, is intended to provide additional impetus for the establishment of intercontinental connections. Long-haul flights operated with an aircraft with a maximum take-off weight of at least 55.000 kilograms and non-stop flights operated at least twice a week and operated for at least two years are eligible for financial support. In return, the airport offers a 100 percent landing discount, 50.000 euros for marketing and a 20 percent discount on handling fees.
