The Golden Sands, located near the city of Varna, meanwhile has a dubious reputation as a "new ballerina" or "cheap ballerone". Unfortunately, this means that the entire coastal region is in a somewhat crooked light. Completely wrongly, because only three kilometers away is a beautiful beach that refutes all prejudices.

The Kabakum Beach is less known internationally than the Golden Sands. This is definitely due to the fact that it is quiet and chilled here, while party and drinking tourism is increasingly gaining the upper hand in the village of Golden Sands. The market on the waterfront has become so conspicuous with regard to counterfeit products that the customs authorities of some countries are taking a closer look at the luggage of Varna travelers.

If you are on a party holiday, you will definitely find what you are looking for in Golden Sands. But if this is absolutely nothing for you, you should seriously examine Kabakum Beach when planning your vacation, because this region is extremely quiet. There are no drinking bouts and parties on the beach here. On the contrary: apart from a few hotels and a chair lift, there is pretty much nothing here. You should take this into account, because the nearest supermarket is a very long walk in the direction of Golden Sands.

Quiet beach with no party vacationers

Kabakum Beach is a very large, sandy beach on the Black Sea that is little frequented even in the main season. Here you only meet hotel guests and a few locals who enjoy the tranquility of this area. Drinks and small snacks are available from the small bars offered by the hoteliers. Beach chairs and umbrellas can be borrowed for a small fee. Hotel guests usually get these free of charge and if you have booked all-inclusive, you can also get free drinks and snacks at the bar of the respective hotel.

A special feature is evident here: For example, the jointly operated beach bar Argisht Palace and Bona Vita Spa Hotel do not offer any alcoholic drinks on the beach. This also applies to all-inclusive guests and if you still want a beer, you have to sit in the chair lift and pick it up at the respective hotel bar. Some other hoteliers do it in a similar way, but they don't have a chairlift.

The mentioned ascent aid is used for the guests of the accommodations mentioned in the previous paragraph to get from the hotel to the beach and back. The use of the outdated chairlift is free of charge for them. The establishments are located at the middle station and at the mountain station you can go to the center of Chayka. You can actually save yourself this excursion, because apart from an event hall, hotels and private residential buildings, nothing awaits you at the mountain station of the historic chairlift. Non-hotel guests can use the lift for a fee of around one euro per direction.

The village and the beach are located near Varna

The closest airport to Kabakum Beach is Varna. This is served by numerous airlines from the German-speaking area, including low-cost airlines. On the onward journey, however, you have to rely on transfer services or taxis, as public transport is extremely difficult to get to this beach. Some hotels also offer free pick-up from Varna Airport. The price level on Kabakum Beach is slightly lower than on Golden Sands. Nevertheless, you should negotiate a fixed price in advance of a trip or book a fixed price through the hotel or an agent.

It is highly recommended to ask the driver to stop at a supermarket and buy the drinks and snacks you need there. At Kabakum Beach there is nothing within walking distance, so that a small supply in the hotel room, regardless of any all-inclusive, can never hurt.

The national currency in Bulgaria is the leva. You can't really do much with euros unless you want to pay at terribly bad exchange rates. It is advisable to only change cash in official banks, because among the many exchange offices - there are none on Kabakum Beach - there are some black sheep who use rates to the detriment of tourists. Alternatively, cash can also be withdrawn from ATMs at the bank rate, but care should be taken not to use the omnipresent orange dispensing machines, as this operator charges fees.
