Ibom Air, owned by the Akwa Ibom (Nigeria) regional government, signed a firm order for ten Airbus A220s during the Dubai Air Show. This will increase the carrier's sub-fleet to twelve.

Ibom Air already has two A220-300 in operation. These carry the registrations SU-GFA, SU-GFD. The fleet also consists of five Bombardier CRJ-900s, which still form the backbone. These are to be replaced by the new additions, so that the fleet will be expanded by five machines net.

“As an organization, we at Ibom Air are delighted with the steep growth we have seen in just over two and a half years since we started operations, growth largely driven by the massive adoption of our product and brand by the Nigerian domestic flight audience . The addition of the A220 to our fleet will support our growth strategy and increase operational efficiency. It will also offer our passengers more space and an improved cabin experience than adding value to our choice, ”says Ibom Air boss Mfon Udom.
