It has been known for some time that Norse Atlantic Airways wants to set up a base at London Gatwick Airport and is already looking for staff. The carrier has now launched the first long-haul destination: From August 12, 2022, it will fly from the second largest airport in the United Kingdom to New York-JFK. Operationally, however, the flights are managed from the home base in Oslo.
As a result, between August 12 and October 29, 2022, there will be short-haul Boeing 787 flights between the capitals of Norway and the UK. At the same time, these should also be used as feeders for the service that is currently being set up from Oslo. Am 14. Juni 2022 one wants to carry out the first flight to New York-JFK. Fort Lauderdale, Orlando and Los Angeles will gradually follow.
For the time being, Gatwick only wants to offer New York-JFK. The aircraft will fly to the UK, then complete the transatlantic circuit and then return to Oslo. It is planned that there should be daily flights between Gatwick and Oslo. The carrier believes that this feeder can also be used to attract passengers to destinations that are currently only served non-stop from the Norwegian capital.
Norse Atlantic Airways actually wanted to be in the air for a long time. The corona pandemic led to the project being canceled despite having AOC and an operating permit has been in your pocket for a long time, massively delayed. The start is also smaller at first, because there are several Dreamliners dry leased to Air Europa.
