The UK branch of Norse Atlantic Airways is now officially an airline. The UK Civil Aviation Authority has granted Norse Atlantic UK AOC and operating licence.
For legal reasons, a UK branch is required in order to be able to carry out the planned growth from the island state. Currently, Gatwick flights are operated by the Norwegian airline as part of the fifth freedom. That will now change, because Norse Atlantic UK, as a British carrier, can now operate non-stop flights from the United Kingdom to countries for which a UK-AOC is required.
The group explained, among other things, that this fact is of crucial strategic importance. It will initially register eight Boeing 787-8s in the UK. The inclusion of a total of seven routes has already been announced. This will offer the most non-stop routes from the UK. Norse Atlantic UK's home base is London Gatwick Airport.
“The UK will be an important part of our network going forward and the granting of an AOC and an operating license from the UK Civil Aviation Authority will offer consumers and businesses on both sides of the Atlantic greater choice and affordable prices. Norse… now has two AOCs, one in Norway and one in the UK, giving the company more flexibility and scope for expansion,” says Norse CEO Bjorn Larsen.
