With effect from May 16, 2022, the low-cost airline Ryanair is further relaxing the mask requirement on EU flights due to the latest EASA guidelines. Only 15 member states continue to insist on wearing face masks on board, Austria is the only country in the world that even requires FFP2 masks.

“We welcome the relaxation of regulations decided by EASA and ECDC, which will come into force next Monday 16 May. From this date, face masks will be optional on all Ryanair flights, with the exception of flights to/from the 15 EU countries, where masks will remain mandatory on public transport. We expect these states to relax their face mask-wearing regulations in the coming days, in line with these new health guidance from EASA and ECDC. Travelers can check the Re-Open EU website for the latest EU mask rules.”

Passengers flying to or departing from the following states will not benefit from the relaxation for the time being. The Austrian Ministry of Health couldn't answer lastwhether to accept the EU recommendations or not.

Complete nonsense now to take off the masks on airplanes. You sit tightly packed, and I don't know where my neighbor comes from and what country.
Mask doesn't hurt, but it protects.
We are still in the pandemic.
