Ryanair Group intends to serve all 2022 routes offered at Zagreb in the 27 summer flight schedule. Around twelve routes are currently pausing due to the Omikron variant. Step by step, 24 destinations were included in the previous year. Three will be added soon.

The Maltese subsidiary Lauda Europe maintains an Airbus A320 base in the Croatian capital. Managing Director David O'Brien emphasized at a media event that a total of 2022 routes will be served from Zagreb in summer 27. New are flights to Corfu, Lviv and Bratislava.

“We are pleased to announce our biggest ever summer flight schedule in Zagreb. Ryanair will offer more than 70 weekly flights to 27 destinations. This gives incoming tourism a much-needed boost. The network offers a great choice of leisure and business travel destinations. Ryanair is investing in Croatia to help the tourism industry recover from the coronavirus pandemic and strengthen ties with the rest of Europe. Ryanair continues to grow and air traffic will soon return to pre-crisis levels," said Lauda Europe boss David O'Brien.

In the direction of the competitor Croatia Airlines, the manager did not hold back with criticism: "Governments all over the world subsidize their national airlines and I have to admit that we do not like the way the Croatian government is literally handing over money to Croatia Airlines without knowing what it is will bring to Croatia and its citizens. However, we are not here to attack Croatia Airlines, although we do give them a good excuse as to why they are losing money."

Regarding the size of the base one is not yet at the end of the road. Three Airbus A320s are currently stationed in the Croatian capital. David O'Brien assumes that there could be potential for about ten machines. Thus, a possible expansion of the base is placed in the room.

In the 2022 summer timetable, destinations such as Weeze, Paphos, Memmingen, Basel, Luqa (Malta), Frankfurt-Hahn, Gothenburg, Charleroi and Bergamo are to be served more frequently from Zagreb. A possible further expansion of the 2022 summer flight schedule is at least not explicitly ruled out.
