The Christophorus fleet has been an indispensable part of emergency medical care in Austria for 38 years. These days the ÖAMTC air rescue reached a special milestone: It was 400.000. Alerted operation since 1983.

The emergency doctor's helicopter Christophorus 7 stationed in East Tyrol was called to neighboring Carinthia for an allergic shock. The flight rescuer, emergency doctor and captain then flew the young patient to the hospital in Spittal an der Drau. Most of the 400.000 missions (around 40.000) were flown by Christophorus 3 stationed in Wiener Neustadt. Second place goes to Christophorus 2 in Gneixendorf (around 37.800), followed by Christophorus 9 (Vienna) with over 32.500 missions.

“400.000 flown missions are impressive proof of the importance of air rescue in a modern emergency doctor system,” explains Reinhard Kraxner, managing director of ÖAMTC air rescue. "Through a spirit of innovation and tireless efforts, our employees have not only saved countless lives, but have also created an international flagship in the field of air rescue."
