In cooperation with the ÖAMTC, the Austrian Federal Railways are setting up so-called bicycle service stations at around 60 stations. These can be used free of charge and offer tools and an air pump, among other things.

In addition to the bicycle service stations at the train stations, there are already over 100 bicycle support points on cycle paths and heavily frequented areas for both ÖAMTC members and non-members - by the end of 2022 there should be over 170 throughout Austria.

"Customers who want to cycle to the train in a climate-friendly and comfortable way are already benefiting from our Bike&Ride facilities with around 37.000 parking spaces for two-wheelers throughout Austria. With the construction of the bicycle service stations in cooperation with the ÖAMTC, we are expanding our range of services in order to make public transport even more intermodal," says Franz Hammerschmid, ÖBB Division Manager Asset Management and Strategic Planning.

“The ÖAMTC sees itself as a partner for all forms of mobility – regardless of whether you are traveling by bike, car, public transport or on foot. The bicycle bases are just one of many services and innovative ideas of the mobility club in relation to bicycles. We are pleased that we can implement the idea of bicycle service stations together with ÖBB throughout Austria,” says Ernst Kloboucnik, ÖAMTC Provincial Director for Vienna, Lower Austria and Burgenland.
