The travel expenses collected on the basis of payment service providers already show a significant increase in sales in the hotel industry in June. 

This is mainly due to the spending of domestic guests, but foreign guests also increasingly frequented Austria's tourist businesses. Allocated to overnight stays in June - Statistics Austria will not publish an initial estimate until the end of July - the OeNB estimates that compared to the previous year or 2019, overnight stays by residents rose by 27 percent or fell by 3 percent, while those of the Guests from abroad rose by 58 percent and fell by 61 percent.

According to estimates, total overnight stays in June recorded an increase of 42 percent compared to the previous year - compared to the pre-crisis year 2019, however, there was a significant decrease of 41 percent.
