Yesterday, the entry rules in Austria were tightened considerably for some countries due to the new Omikron variant. With one exception, tourism is a bit accommodating.
The new CoV variant has also arrived in Austria and is causing a stir in this country. In other parts of the world, the spread of the - it seems - even more infectious variant can hardly be stopped - Great Britain registered over 100.000 new infections for the first time yesterday. The Austrian government has therefore again announced tightening at a press conference: The countries of Great Britain, Norway, Denmark and the Netherlands will be declared virus variant areas with effect from December 25, which means that a quarantine of ten days will be mandatory. This measure hits the travel and tourism industry pretty hard at the end of the year. An exception to the rule: people who have been vaccinated three times with a valid PCR test.
