Austria's Interior Minister Karl Nehammer ÖVP announced on Sunday that border controls with all neighboring countries should be tightened on Monday. This also includes the overland route to the Federal Republic of Germany. They agreed with the governments of the neighbors.

The politician wants to further reduce the number of travel movements with the help of “control pressure”. There are still exceptions, but you want to check "closely" whether the people actually fall under it. If not, then quarantine blossoms.

Up to now, Austria regularly checked the border crossings with Hungary, Slovenia, the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Now the other neighboring states, including Liechtenstein, are also joining. Of course, he did not say what exactly Nehammer means by “intensifying random checks”.
