This week, shortly before the traditional summer break, the Austrian National Council will deal with the government's planned increase in the ticket tax. The core of the planned new regulation is that short-haul flights up to a distance of around 300 kilometers are to be taxed at 30 euros (one-way).

Since the ÖVP and the Greens hold a majority in the National Council, approval can be assumed. The remaining ticket tax rates are also to be standardized to 12 euros (one-way). The government has not yet communicated an exact date for the entry into force. Only in mid-June was vaguely said “before summer”.
