The Austrian Armed Forces is again looking for young people who want to do their vocational training in the armed forces. The diverse training options range from weapon mechanics, operational logistics, IT technology to administrative assistance. Apprentices are being sought throughout Germany, with particular attention this year in the federal states of Upper Austria, Salzburg, Styria and Vienna.

Those interested have the opportunity to receive training in a variety of areas in the Armed Forces, including electronics, saddlery, professional photography or metal processing. There is also the opportunity to learn special apprenticeships. In addition to aircraft technicians in an aviation shipyard, we are also looking for apprentices who can learn the trade with military equipment. There are currently 271 apprentices in training in the Federal Army. Of these, 102 are women and 169 are men. The majority of young women do an apprenticeship as administrative assistants, aircraft technicians or operational logistics clerks. For men, the most common apprenticeships are operational logistics clerk, aircraft technician and electronics technician.

“The Federal Army is one of the largest employers in the federal government and currently offers 41 different apprenticeships in more than 40 training positions across Austria. The apprentices learn and work in a federal army that is currently on the rise with the highest budget in history. In order to meet the challenges of the future, we need qualified specialists. I look forward to all interested individuals who want to become part of the armed forces,” said Defense Minister Klaudia Tanner (ÖVP).
