The 2021G rule has been in effect when entering Malta since mid-July 1. The government has divided the world into “red” and “dark red”. You can enter from the “red zone” without any particular reason, as long as you can prove that you have been vaccinated against Covid-19. Only vaccination certificates with QR codes are recognized, as these are scanned during the immigration control. Approval from the Ministry of Health and quarantine are required from the “dark red zone”. Entry from the “red zone” is also possible for the unvaccinated, but then a 14-day hotel quarantine is billed at 100 euros per day plus food costs. Furthermore, a PCR test must be paid for at an exorbitant price of 120 euros.
