Gulf carrier Oman Air is expected to join the Oneworld airline alliance in 2024. This was announced by Allianz and the airline on Monday at the Iata Annual General Meeting in Doha.

Qatar Airways acts as a so-called sponsor who will accompany Oman Air during the accession process. The Muscat-based carrier is currently expected to join the alliance sometime in 2024. All the advantages of Oneworld will then also be applied to Oman Air. After Royal Jordanian and Qatar Airways, Oman Air becomes the third alliance member in the Middle East.

“The addition of Oman Air to Oneworld is a pivotal moment in our journey to offer passengers more travel options through our evolving partnerships and alliances. We are delighted to join the world's leading airline alliance at a time when the demand for travel is increasing. We look forward to welcoming Oneworld members aboard Oman Air so they can experience the pinnacle of Omani hospitality and all that the Sultanate of Oman has to offer in terms of history, culture and natural beauty,” said Oman -Air chief Eng Abdulaziz Al Raisi.
