In more and more ports, cruise ships are no longer desired, because governments do not want to import corona cases by sea. Most recently it hit the shipping company Carnival, which was not allowed to enter Aruba or Bonaire with the Freedom.
Some corona tests on board would have been positive. The affected passengers were isolated. Only passengers who were fully vaccinated against Covid-19 and who also had a negative test were embarked. "The rapid spread of the omicron variant can affect the way some agencies look at a small number of cases themselves - even when handled with our strict protocols," Carnival said in a statement.
The competitor Tui was won by different with the Mein Schiff 4 Ports rejected, because some corona tests were positive. Those affected were disembarked beforehand, but a cluster with around 300 infected passengers subsequently developed. Cruise ships have also been repeatedly turned away in the United Kingdom.
