With the LN-FGF, the first Boeing 737 Max 8 arrived at the young low-cost airline Flyr on Wednesday. The plane was transferred from Seattle to Oslo. The carrier expects to take delivery of five more copies.
Flyr is purchasing a total of six Boeing 737 Max 8s through Air Lease Corporation. Options for up to four more copies have also been agreed. It is currently planned that those machines that will be leased permanently should be taken over by the end of the current year.
The young low-cost airline took off last year with leased Boeing 737-800s. A few weeks ago, the carrier surprised with the announcement that the successor model 737 Max 8 should be fleeted. The Airbus A320neo model is said to have been discussed beforehand. With many Lessors placing bulk orders “for stock”, Flyr was able to get brand new 737 Max 8s quickly.
In June of the previous year Flyr started flight operations. Initially, they only flew within Norway before the first international flights were carried out on August 21, 2021. It currently serves six domestic routes and around 20 international destinations.
