The Austrian Federal Railways are anticipating particularly high demand around Easter – not least because of the climate ticket. Therefore, additional trains are brought onto the rails. A total of 13.000 additional seats are offered.

The state railway company wants to use just about everything that can roll on rails around Easter. On the main travel days, the offer is increased, especially on the western and southern railways. These are mainly additional sets that will run as so-called express trains. Occasionally, however, additional Railjets are used, according to the ÖBB.

Irrespective of this, it is advisable to purchase paid seat reservations due to the expected high demand. This guarantees that you can ride in any case. In the event of overcrowding, the train manager may ask some passengers to disembark for safety reasons, but not people with a valid seat reservation.
