Vienna: Overnight stays in March reach around 55 percent of 2019

This March brought more than 700.000 overnight stays and thus a calculated increase of 696 percent compared to the month of 2021.

The March result corresponds to around 55 percent of March 2019. In the first quarter of 2022, a total of over 1,4 million overnight stays (+560 percent compared to 2021) were counted. The net sales of the accommodation establishments are evaluated from January to February: They amount to around 38 million euros - 142 percent more than in the same period of the previous year.

With a total of 709.000 overnight stays, Vienna closed March with a calculated increase of 696 percent compared to the same month of 2021, during which the accommodation facilities for leisure guests were closed. 174.000 overnight stays were counted from Austria (+250 percent compared to March of the previous year), followed by Germany, Ukraine, Italy, USA, Spain, France, Great Britain, Romania and Israel in the top 10 of the year to date.

The net overnight turnover of Viennese accommodation providers in February (data for March are not yet available) was 22,8 million euros, which is an arithmetical increase of 388 percent. In the period from January to February, the businesses were able to generate 38,19 million euros, which is 242 percent more than in the same period of 2021. The average occupancy of the hotel beds was 30,6 percent in March (3/2021: 6,9 percent), those of the rooms around 40 percent (3/2021: around 9 percent).
