In the course of the corona pandemic, numerous tour operators have made possible free cancellations or rebookings, at least temporarily. Some have introduced paid add-on packages right away.
The inflationary issuing of travel warnings has led to numerous tour operators no longer accepting cancellations and rebookings without additional costs. There was never a legal basis for withdrawing free of charge in the event of official travel warnings. It was a living practice that was secretly abolished by some tour operators due to questionable political decisions.
During the corona pandemic, however, some tour operators have made it possible under certain circumstances to change or cancel the booking free of charge. Due to a lack of demand, this also served as a sales argument. But not all tour operators wanted to forego additional basket money, because some offered Corona Flex packages for a fee. There are now only a few tour operators who offer flexible package tours at no extra charge.
Alltours is the only one left among the major providers. This tour operator now also asks you to pay for the flex package. Since March 15, 2023, the German tour operator has been charging an extra 27 euros per adult for this additional service. Children listed on the same booking do not cost anything extra.
Alltours argues the introduction of the fee-based flex option, among other things, that they want to offer flexible cancellation and rebooking options even after the end. Holidaymakers can plan for the long term and if something changes, they can rebook or cancel, provided that the contractually agreed deadlines are met. You just ask for the flexibility since Wednesday in addition to the checkout.
