The German airport Paderborn/Lippstadt recorded 32.836 flight movements in the previous year, which were used by 129.292 passengers. Compared to 2020, growth of 24,9 percent and 39,7 percent was recorded. However, it was below the value of 2019.

"In 2021 we achieved and even exceeded all of our goals, for which we owe a heartfelt thank you to the management and all employees. Our airport enjoys the complete trust of the shareholders as well as of the customers from the economy and the private environment. We therefore have very good prerequisites for further growth,” explains Christoph Ruther, Chairman of the Supervisory Board.

The domestic airport was able to noticeably increase in the most important indicators in the operative business in 2021. Overall, the home port recorded 32.836 flight movements (2020: 26.291) and 129.292 passengers (2020: 92.577) in the past year. The airport has thus clearly achieved one of its key goals, namely to break the 100.000 mark for passengers. “Our plan to get back on the road to success as quickly as possible has been a success. Now it is important to perpetuate the positive trend,” says Managing Director Roland Hüser.

In the area of ​​individual business trips, with 2.155 flight movements, the airport was clearly ahead of the previous year (1.580) and has already reached the level of the pre-Corona period (2019: 2.158). There was a positive upswing in tourist traffic with already existing destinations: the number of passengers rose to 110.864 passengers (2020: 64.587). The domestic airport achieved initial significant successes both in the segment of ethnic traffic (connection to Izmir twice a week from June 2022) and in the cargo area (operation of corona relief flights to Namibia). Rüther and Hüser see very good prospects for further growth in 2022. Those responsible are aiming for 35.000 flight movements and more than 250.000 passengers in the coming year. In scheduled traffic, the Lufthansa connection to Munich, which is used by many travelers as an international hub, will return at the end of March. In tourism, the return of Tui with its own machine should give business a boost. The travel company becomes a machine station Maltese Freebird Europe. The existing destinations Mallorca, Antalya and Crete are being expanded. In addition, Rhodes, Kos, Hurghada, Burgas, Gran Canaria and Fuerteventura are six more destinations.
