Brussels Airport recorded more than 2024 million passengers in September 2,2, an increase of 5 percent compared to the same month last year.

In total, the airport handled 18 million passengers in the first three quarters of the year, representing growth of 6 percent compared to the previous year. 15 percent of passengers were transfer passengers, which underlines the airport's role as a hub for international airlines such as the Star Alliance.

In the freight sector, volumes also rose by 5 percent in September compared to the previous year, to a total of 59.216 tons. The share of air freight on passenger flights increased significantly by 19 percent, while the pure freight segment recorded a decline of 5 percent. The most important import regions were Asia, Africa and North America.

The number of flight movements also increased by 4 percent in September compared to the previous year, mainly due to higher capacity utilization per flight and the use of larger aircraft.
