London Gatwick Airport has repeatedly attracted attention in recent weeks as the UK's "chaos hotspot". The operators have now announced that the number of flights in July and August 2022 will be limited.

There should be a maximum of 2022 flights a day in July 825. In August 2022, 850 connections per day are to be allowed. Before the corona pandemic, there were around 900 pieces a day. Gatwick Airport says it is doing this to provide a "reliable standard of service".

The second largest airport in the British capital is suffering from a massive staff shortage. Enormously long waiting times at the counters and the security check are now part of everyday life. recently had to Vueling take off completely without passengers, because they "got stuck" in the Siko queue despite the captain's waiting and no ground staff were available for boarding.

Gatwick restrictions are not unique. Only recently, Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, which in recent weeks has repeatedly attracted attention with chaotic conditions due to staff shortages, announced that the number of passengers who can use the airport per day will be limited.
