The Philippines and Indonesia have imposed entry restrictions due to the new Omikron coronavirus variant.
The Philippines would temporarily suspend air traffic from seven European countries from today, according to ORF. The government put Switzerland, Austria, the Czech Republic, Hungary, the Netherlands, Belgium and Italy on the red list with immediate effect until December 15. Other foreigners who have been in these states in the past 14 days are also not allowed to enter. The opening of the border for holidaymakers from certain countries, which is planned for December 1, will be suspended. The Philippines had previously introduced entry restrictions for seven countries in southern Africa, where the omicron variant classified as worrying was first recorded. On Sunday, Indonesia also issued an entry ban for South Africa and seven other countries in the region.
