The Icelandic airline startup Play will start the first route to Austria in the winter flight schedule 2021/22. The carrier will fly between Keflavik and Salzburg on Sundays during the main ski season.

The seasonal route is to begin on January 22nd, 2022 and will initially be operated until February 19th, 2022. An extension is possible, but depends on demand. The core target group are winter sports enthusiasts from Iceland who want to ski or snowboard around Salzburg.

Aircraft of the type Airbus A321neo have been announced. Play introduced the a few days ago Livery and the uniforms in front. Flight operations are scheduled to begin shortly. So far, no Austria routes had been announced, so that Salzburg is the first destination that Play is heading for in the Alpine republic.
