Previously, Portugal required travelers to fill out a digital travel declaration, which applied equally to those arriving by air, land and sea. Since April 23, however, this document is no longer necessary.

However, the 3G rule is still applied for entry, so from the age of twelve years, proof of vaccination, recovery or negative test must be provided. This is reported by Check24. PCR tests up to 72 hours old and rapid antigen tests are recognized if they are not older than 24 hours. In addition, the body temperature of all travelers is measured.

In addition, the end of the mask requirement in public spaces was also announced. However, the utensil remains mandatory in public transport and in hospitals, nursing homes and comparable institutions. The continuing obligation to wear masks on airplanes was also explicitly mentioned, so that most airlines will continue to insist on passengers and staff wearing masks on flights to Portugal.

The island of Madeira, which belongs to Portugal, has different regulations than mainland Portugal. The flower island no longer requires any proof of corona upon entry. It is only recommended to register on the Madeira Safe digital platform and to use the Corona app "S-ALERTA CIDADÃO". There are even stricter mask rules in Madeira.
