On July 17, 2023, an unruly PAX caused a significant disruption on a Jet2 flight from Edinburgh to Tenerife South. The pilots of flight LS727 decided to stopover at Porto Santo Airport to "throw out" a 26-year-old and a woman.
Actually, it should go from the Scottish capital to the Canary Island of Tenerife. During the flight, a man and a woman are said to have behaved so badly that the captain of the Boeing 737-800 decided that a stopover would be made at the nearest airport for safety reasons. This was the island airport of Porto Santo.
According to local media reports, the Madeira executive was not exactly squeamish. Of course, this had a history, because the two troublemakers are said to have resisted with their hands and feet to leave the plane. The officials then decide to use so-called Taser weapons. The two unruly PAX were then taken away.
The Madeira Police Command confirmed the incident and use of the Boeing 2-737 operated by Jet800. It also explained that arrests have been made because the troublemakers "disobeyed a lawful order from the flight captain" and then on the ground ignored police orders and resisted state authority. The flight to Tenerife South continued shortly thereafter. The Boeing 737-800 landed at the destination airport just before midnight.
The video below was recorded at the Portuguese airport and shows police officers taking the male troublemaker away:
