The Czech airline CSA has come a decisive step closer to the reorganization, because the creditors' committee approved the restructuring plan earlier this week. Now only the approval of the competent judge is pending. However, this is considered a formality.
CSA Czech Airlines is currently majority owned by Smartwings. This will change when the restructuring plan is implemented, because the investment company Prague City Air will then be in charge. It is a company of Smartwings owners Šimáně and Vink. In the future, the Czech Skyteam member fly with regional jets of the type Airbus A220.
As a result, CSA will be separated from the previous group of companies and will act as a kind of sister company in the future, since Smartwings and the current subsidiary will have the same shareholders. The Šimáně and Vink families want to invest around 125 million Czech crowns (around five million euros) in CSA through the company Prague City Air. Part of this money should go to the creditors of the carrier, in March last year had to file for bankruptcy, to be paid out.
