The Czech Smartwings and the German Eurowings are intensifying their cooperation at Prague Airport in the form of a codeshare agreement. This means that some routes will be marketed together and should be bookable via both airlines.

With immediate effect, Eurowings connections from the new base in Prague to the destinations Cologne/Bonn, Hamburg, Düsseldorf, Bristol, Birmingham, Copenhagen, Barcelona, Athens, Larnaca, Heraklion, Málaga, Alicante, Stockholm, Faro, Rome and Mallorca will also be operated under Smartwings Flight numbers offered. In a next step of the partnership, it is planned that Smartwings flights will also be offered under a Eurowings flight number.

“We are delighted to launch codeshare flights with our partner Smartwings. The cooperation strengthens our position in Prague and enables us to offer our customers more and easier travel options. The realization of the agreement comes at exactly the right time. After two years of spending a lot of time within our own four walls, the desire to travel is stronger than ever. We are currently seeing a surge in bookings, not just in the Czech Republic but across our entire route network,” says Eurowings CEO Jens Bischof.

"We are pleased that we can significantly expand our network through the cooperation with Eurowings," said Roman Vik, Member of the Board and CEO of Smartwings.

Opening of their base in the Czech capital Eurowings has significantly expanded its offer in Central Europe. The Lufthansa subsidiary will station three Airbus A2022 aircraft, including local crews, in the Czech capital by summer 320. The flights are operated by the Austrian company Eurowings Europe. In the course of this year the Successor Eurowings Europe Ltd. start under Maltese AOC. The Austrian company will not continue as an airline.
