Privatization: Air India employees are out of the running

Advertising

A few weeks ago, Air India employees caused a stir with the plan to take over their employer. The government has little interest in this because the bidding consortium is out of the running in the current sales launch.

The participating Air India employees were informed on March 8, 2021, according to the Indian news website Moneycontrol, that the consortium did not make it onto the government's shortlist. The letter was signed by commercial director Meenakshi Mallik, who is at the forefront of the takeover attempt.

According to this, on Monday Ernst & Young would have informed the government that they were out of the running. The consortium's documents did not meet the requirements set out in the sales process. So it remains to be seen whether and to whom Air India will be sold. Several attempts have failed in the past.
