At Australian Oneworld member Qantas, the return to service of the Airbus A380 fleet is progressing. The sixth unit, the VH-OQA, will soon be put into service. The super jumbo is currently being serviced in Abu Dhabi.

Originally, Qantas had twelve A380s. These were shut down shortly after the start of the corona pandemic. In the meantime, two units have been scrapped, so that the fleet has shrunk to ten machines. Five units are already being used commercially and number six is to be put back into regular service around Christmas at the latest. Qantas wants to take account of the traditionally high demand.

The carrier is currently assuming that the ten remaining copies will be back in scheduled service by the end of 2023. It is still unclear how long Qantas will continue to follow this pattern. The airline has been using the Airbus A380 since 2008.
