Qantas has never made a secret of the fact that they want to get the Airbus A380 back into the air. At the moment one is suffering from the defacto border closings in Australia. The government has come under fire for its controversial zero-covid policy, which is gradually proving to be ineffective.
Qantas is currently assuming that it will be possible to fly the superjumbos again from July 2022. From the flight plan data it can be seen that from this point in time aircraft of the type Airbus A380 are stored again. According to the current planning status, the first flights are to be carried out on July 1, 2022 on the Sydney-Los Angeles route.
The actual implementation remains to be seen. This is only indirectly in the hands of Qantas, because in order to generate significant demand, the entry and quarantine regulations must be relaxed. It is currently not foreseeable when Australia will take this step.
