Qatar Airways is considering first class comeback

A few years ago, Qatar Airways withdrew from the “first-class arms race” that some golf carriers had fought. This class of transport was even expanded from many machines, because according to company boss Akbar Al Baker it was in deficit. Now the first class could make a comeback.

The only machines that currently have a first-class cabin are the Airbus A380, which the Qatar boss no longer wants to reactivate. During an aviation conference, he even described this type of machine as a bad decision. The consequence of this, however, is that this golf carrier cannot offer first class at the moment. The reason is simple: the other planes simply didn't have any installed.

That could change because Akbar Al Baker told the Simple Flying portal that the reintroduction of First Class on certain routes is currently being examined. The manager sees good demand for the top product on certain routes, but not on all routes. Now the consideration is in the room that some machines could be upgraded with first-class cabins.

The Qatar boss also emphasizes the advantages of the business class product and does not give any details about a possible schedule for a possible comeback of the first class. However, the reintroduction is considered likely in order to better address particularly affluent clientele. It can be assumed that the focus will be on those routes on which first class was previously offered on the Airbus A380. But nothing is fixed yet.
