The Austrian state of Burgenland is increasing the quarantine from ten to 14 days. For the time being, this only applies to people who have tested positive for the coronavirus and their first-degree contact persons (K1). The measure has not yet had any impact on travelers, as this is federal law.

It is not yet known whether Health Minister Rudolf Anschober (Greens) will tighten the controversial entry regulation again. The minister wanted to do this a few weeks ago Delete "Free testing" after five days, but had to row back under pressure from the ÖVP. It therefore remains to be seen whether tourist traffic will again be burdened with new harassment.

In general, however, the trend for infected and suspected cases should go back to two-week quarantine, because the Burgenland coordination staff justified the decision on Sunday with the implementation of a recommendation by the federal government. It can therefore be assumed that other federal states will follow suit. There Entry requirements in Austria are not state but federal law, there are no changes for travelers, at least for the time being.
