Rail workers' strike imposes restrictions in the UK

In the United Kingdom, rail travelers must expect massive restrictions, because the RMT union has called on railway workers to walk out until Sunday. In some places there is currently no rail traffic at all.

The accusations made by the employee representatives are not primarily aimed at the predominantly private railway companies, but at the government. This one accuses that an agreement would be blocked. Transport Secretary Mark Harper recently called for employers and employees to return to the negotiating table. The railway sector is by no means the only sector in the UK where there is a dispute over higher wages. For example, nurses, postal workers and the public sector are also demanding higher salaries. There are always strikes called by trade unions.
