Aer Lingus UK operated Airbus A330-300, registration G-EILA, en route Orlando-Manchester made an unscheduled safety landing at Daytona Beach on 8 November 2022. The background was smoke in the cockpit.

Shortly after take-off from Orlando, the pilots of the UK branch of Aer Lingus noticed that there was a smell of burning. This should also have been visually visible. For safety reasons, the captain decided that a landing would be made at Daytona Beach Airport.

The long-haul jet was able to land safely. All 250 passengers and the crew were able to leave the long-haul jet unharmed. After about three hours of waiting in the Daytona Beach terminal, the travelers were taken to Orlando by bus and rebooked on other connections to the United Kingdom.
