On Saturday, January 6, 2023, Swiss flight LX2086, operated with the Airbus A320-200 with the registration HB-IJM, had to complete a return landing at Zurich-Kloten Airport. The background is that the crew noticed a vague smell and smoke on board.

Actually, this flight should lead from Zurich to Lisbon. Shortly after takeoff, the pilots reported that they had noticed smoke in the cabin and cockpit. The climb was aborted at an altitude of about 10.000 feet. Courses were immediately set for Zurich-Kloten, where it was possible to touch down safely about 20 minutes after take-off.

After landing, all passengers and crew members were able to leave HB-IJM safely. The affected machine was immediately checked by the precautionary fire brigade and technicians. The exact cause of the smoke is still under investigation.
