The German airline Lufthansa and its subsidiaries Swiss, Brussels Airlines and Austrian Airlines will not charge any rebooking fees in any of the tariff classes until the end of December 2020. This also applies to Economy Light. However, depending on the tariff booked, a surcharge may still apply if the new flight is more expensive.

The airlines of the Lufthansa Group and many competitors could have lost the trust of many potential customers through the deliberate disregard of the statutory deadline for the refund of tickets that could not be used due to the corona crisis, according to the Federal Association of Consumer Organizations. Thousands of customers are still waiting for their ticket money to be repaid.

The tariffs, which are now being advertised as "flexible", only mean that the flat-rate fee that is otherwise charged for this process does not apply in the event of a rebooking. Any tariff difference is still to be paid and if the new flight is cheaper there is no money back. This does not apply to reimbursable Flexi tariffs, which explicitly stipulate in the provisions that there is no additional charge.

In this respect, the “new flexibility” that the Lufthansa Group is now promoting again is only applicable to a very limited extent. Only the flat fee, which is otherwise charged in addition to the tariff difference, does not have to be paid at least until the end of December 2020.
