In the middle of the corona crisis, the German seat manufacturer Recaro managed to land a major order for 31.767 SL3710 economy class armchairs. These are to be installed in 146 Wizzair Airbus jets from next year.

The order is part of an even larger deal that major shareholder Indigo Partners negotiated with Recaro. It is the largest order that the aircraft seat manufacturer has ever landed.

"This achievement marks a significant milestone for Recaro and the teams involved, all of whom deserve great recognition and gratitude," said Mark Hiller, CEO and shareholder of Recaro Aircraft Seating. "This is possibly the fastest ramp-up of a job we have ever seen and I am confident that our teams are well prepared for it."

The larger contract with the Indigo Partners portfolio of airlines includes 459 machines with a total of 96.000 seats in the SL3710 series. Headquartered in Phoenix, Arizona, Indigo Partners operates an ultra-low-cost airline business model that offers passengers minimal fare inclusions and a range of additional charges for amenities.

“A lot of work went into selecting a seat supplier for this order, but what impressed us most about Recaro was the customer focus,” explains Heiko Holm, Wizz Air Chief Operations Officer. “The global network of production and customer service locations Not only was it easily accessible for our individual airlines, but Recaro also adapted the SL3710 seat to our needs. This gave us additional insight into Recaro, who is ready to go the extra mile to meet our needs. ”
