Nordic Aviation Capital, a heavyweight leasing company in the area of regional airliners, has had to file Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in the United States. The continuation of the company is planned.

NAC is one of the largest lessors specializing in regional aircraft. This segment has come under pressure due to the corona crisis. Nordic Aviation Capital's portfolio includes turboprop aircraft such as DHC Dash 8, ATR 42/72 and Embraer E-series regional jets. Demand was already falling before the corona pandemic, but the crisis put numerous airlines in acute financial distress. This also has indirect consequences for the lessor, which was originally founded in Denmark.

With the help of the Chapter 11 procedure you want to reposition yourself. The company is currently owned by EQT-Partners, but in the course of the restructuring, the creditors are to take over the majority of the shares. However, this step should not have any effects on lessees and airline passengers.
