Renovation work will begin at Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER) in November 2024, which is intended to offer passengers a faster and more comfortable travel experience in the future.

In Terminal 1, the security checks will be equipped with modern CT scanners, which will enable faster processing as liquids and electronic devices no longer have to be removed from hand luggage. The work will be carried out in several phases, with the aim of completely converting the security checks in the southern area by spring 2025. The northern area will follow by autumn 2025.

At the same time, a new catering facility called "Adler & Bär" is being set up in the check-in hall, offering passengers and their companions a variety of dishes in a stylish ambience. The renovation of the catering facility is scheduled to be completed by spring 2025. In addition, the area for border controls in the central departure area has been expanded to reduce waiting times and increase capacity by 50 percent. With these measures, the airport operator BER is aiming to significantly improve passenger processing and expand the range of services on offer.
