The Boeing 787-9 operated by Egyptair with the registration SU-GEV had to make an unscheduled landing in Dublin on January 20, 2024 due to a broken windshield.

The long-haul aircraft was on its way from Cairo to New York-Newark under flight number MS987. Shortly after the start of the upcoming Atlantic crossing, the pilots changed course and flew towards Dublin, where they landed shortly afterwards. The background is that the windshield in the cockpit was cracked. The upcoming transatlantic flight was canceled for safety reasons.

The passengers were picked up at a later date by the ferry SU-GEW, also a Boeing 787-9, and taken to their destination Dublin. However, this could only be implemented on January 21, 2024, resulting in a longer delay for travelers.
