On Wednesday, July 17th, 2023 the new airport Remetea (Romania) officially started operations. The HA-FAL coming from Budapest was the first commercial aircraft to land at the new airport.
However, the charter flight first had to make a stopover in Cluj. The background is that there is still no official passport control by the police at Remetea Airport. Since Romania is not a member of the Schengen Agreement, a stopover had to be made.
According to Boardingpass.ro, Aeroexpress Regional announced during the celebration that it will start a non-stop connection between Budapest and the new Romanian airport in the coming year.
