The flight route from Münster/Osnabrück Airport to Munich has been connecting the two cities for 40 years. On May 02, 1984, a DLT (now Lufthansa CityLine) aircraft took off from FMO for the first time towards the Bavarian capital.

Today Lufthansa flies four times a day to its large hub in Munich. Around a third of passengers use connections to around 150 worldwide destinations via Munich. Prof. Dr. Rainer Schwarz, Managing Director of the FMO, emphasized the great importance of this connection for the entire region.

With over 150.000 passengers per year, the Munich route is one of the airport's TOP 3 destinations and is the connection most in demand by the regional economy. To mark the anniversary, FMO employees today distributed typical Bavarian pretzels to the passengers of flight LH 2139, and the crew of the Airbus A319 was ceremoniously welcomed with flowers on the apron.
