Route permit withdrawn: Pegasus has to stop Istanbul-Podgorica

The Turkish low-cost airline Pegasus Airlines is not allowed to continue flights between Istanbul-SAW and Podgorica. The background is that the government of Montenegro withdrew the approval in order to give Air Montenegro a competitive advantage.

The government justifies the decision by saying that the presence of Pegasus Airlines would have a negative impact on Air Montenegro's revenues. Furthermore, Turkish Airlines, a Turkish carrier, would already be present between Istanbul and Podgorica. Pegasus was forced to discontinue the route due to the withdrawal of the route permit. The last flight for the time being was carried out on April 15, 2024.
